Congratulations to the Portland Rose Festival, which today was designated the “Official Festival of the City of Portland” by City Council. With today’s announcement and, soon, a newly-renovated John Yeon building to serve as festival headquarters, it is an exciting time for the celebration and the many Portlanders who make the event happen.
Our vision for an enlivened and enhanced Memorial Coliseum is guided by an understanding of the importance of this iconic celebration. Our approach remains faithful to Memorial Coliseum’s original design to accommodate the parade.
It’s events like the Grand Floral Parade that make Portland great. One of the strengths of our concept is the reverence it shows for the existing community uses of Memorial Coliseum — including the Grand Floral Parade, OSAA competitions and graduations.
We congratulate festival organizers and volunteers on today’s announcement and affirm our commitment to a bright future for the Grand Floral Parade at Memorial Coliseum.
