Trail Blazers Chairman and owner Paul Allen announces the hiring of Larry Miller as President of the Portland Trail Blazers.
December 2007
Trail Blazers announce intent to secure arena naming rights and to “help shape the vision for the development and sustainability of the Rose Quarter campus for the betterment of our community.”
January 2008
Portland Arena Management sends out requests for proposal, beginning the process of identifying long-term arena management partner.
June 2008
AEG Facilities and Portland Arena Management announce a five-year venue management services agreement. Blazers declare AEG “a perfect match for our long-term vision for the Quarter.” As the world’s leading sport and entertainment company, AEG is in a strong position to drive events to the Rose Quarter, and in fact, the Rose Quarter hosts more than 300 major events in AEG’s first year.

Trail Blazers Senior Vice President of Business Affairs J. Isaac meets with The Cordish Company, award-winning developers of several innovative mixed-use entertainment districts throughout the United States.

Larry Miller and J. Isaac meet with then-City Commissioner Sam Adams, Cordish and the Portland Development Commission (PDC) to discuss development visions for the Rose Quarter.
October 2008
Staff of Mayor Sam Adams, PDC, and Office of Planning and Sustainability tour the successful Kansas City Power & Light District.
November 2008
At the request of the City of Portland, Trail Blazers explore site plans that would include a Triple-A baseball stadium at the city-owned Memorial Coliseum.
February 2009
Mayor Sam Adams and staff host meeting with the PDC, Merritt Paulson, Larry Miller and J. Isaac at which Mayor Adams requests that Rose Quarter be considered as possible site for proposed AAA baseball stadium.
January 2009
Trail Blazers propose Rose Quarter development project to the PDC, expressing desire to negotiate a memorandum of understanding (MOU) designed to establish the scope and usage of the development, set the public and private participation in the project, and serve as a basis for the final development agreement.
March 2009
City announces MOU with Merritt Paulson’s Shortstop, LLC that would place AAA baseball stadium on existing site of Memorial Coliseum.
May 2009
After receiving public input, the City of Portland announces that Memorial Coliseum will be preserved and AAA baseball stadium will not be built in the Rose Quarter.
July 2009
Trail Blazers meet with representatives of Nike to formally discuss developing an interactive experience as an anchor for the district.
August 2009
Mayor Adams selects a strong and diverse group of 32 member community leaders for a Stakeholder Advisory Committee (SAC) to advise City Council on development of the Rose Quarter and future of Memorial Coliseum.
September 2009
City of Portland, Blazers and PDC sign MOU to formally guide the process for development of the Rose Quarter and Memorial Coliseum.
September 2009
The Mayor’s Stakeholder Advisory Committee commences its year-long process, starting with a review of prior development efforts, the history of the district, and the development rights and management agreements between PAM and the city of Portland.
